Ok, Just hearing or thinking the word hero always makes me get this song stuck in my head. I remember loving it when it first came out .. or was it because E.E. is just SOOOOO cute?!?! Anyway ~ whatever the reason, it has stuck. My husband always made fun of it (or E.E. lol) He would copy him and make his lip quivver like in the video and I would get so mad at him, lol! Funny the memories that get stuck with certain songs.
This card is based on the sketch challenge on the Card Patterns blog. I had every intention of trying something different and making a pretty, frilly card.. and even trying to not use a stamped image for this one. Didn't happen :) I colored Riley with my bics and used my American Crafts paper as well as my bazzil Cardstock.
I know i have not filled you all in yet. It is just sinking in enough for me to be ok talking about it without it not making me sick. My husband got hurt yesterday at work. He came home early, for lunch I thought. He was on the phone, as usual, but when I came in the kitchen and saw he was shirtless, I was confused. He turned around to face me and his chest and stomach was all scratched up and he had a huge bandage on his head. I flipped and told him to get off the phone. He did not call me because he was too worried about his hearing aids being messed up. Anyway ~ here is what I copied and pasted from our local news website (very short and to the point and totally not as detailed as it should be!)

Motorists in North Myrtle Beach were shocked Tuesday to see a man stop his car on a bridge and jump into the water.
It happened on the Highway 17 bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway.
Officials say, police first responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle in the road but then drivers saw the man who had been in the car jump off the bridge.
Divers pulled him out of the water and he was taken to Seacoast Medical Center, then transferred to Loris where officials say he's being treated.

First off, divers did not find him. My husband was driving by and saw the car abandoned. he called in because he thought it was just left and it needed to be taken off hte bridge before someone got hurt or a wreck occurred. Then the dispatchers told him they got calls in saying someone had jumped. My husband along with his partner drove to the bottom of the bridge at the boat docks, saw the man floating and he stripped so he would not be weighted down, and dove in. He did not realize how shallow it was where he dove and was hurt prety bad. His head is scraped / cut bad (no stitches needed), his neck hurts, and he is on meds for it. Well, he knew he was hurt but ignored it,swam out to hte man who was floating down the waterway and tried to drag him back. he was struggling, bleeding and doing all he could. They met my husband out there and helped him get the man in. He was dead according to my husband. He told me he thought he was dead before he even dove in after him. They took the man away and wereworking on him, but did not see any hope in sight. My husband called me from the Dr. office he was at and told me they called him and told him the man was on life support and was being treated. I have not heard today what the status is. It is all kindof surreal. Like a dream really. I can picture it all in my head, but as a dream, not reality. My husband is lucky he did not get hurt worse than he did, and I am so proud of him for the chance he took to save someone else. God was with him, that is for sure. My husband, believe it or not, had been catching grief about this from coworkers and from the Dr he saw. I think he is amazing and very brave and I am very proud of him.
What an amazing story! You are so lucky! Your husband is such a hero!
ReplyDeleteFirst off let me just tell you that song is my hubby and mine's special song! It was HUGE when we got together and we made it ours. We danced to it at our wedding reception.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, your card is fabulous! I love everything about it!
Lastly, your hubby is super special and definitely a hero! Hug him tight!
First off, your card is super cute and I'm so glad you could join us over at CP this week.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, your husband is brave!! Whoever would sit and give him grief for having to make a quick decision and doing the best he could to save the life of another perhaps needs to reevaluate their own attitude. I hope your husband recovers quickly and fully from his scrapes and bruises. Take care!
Fantastic cards you have been making Heather! They are all so beautiful...especially the one that looks like your daughter!! :)
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to hear that your hubby is ok....how scary! But he definitely is a brave man (even if it is his job)! :)
Hugs~ Kim
You already know what I have to say about this... your hubby is a hero in every sense of the word! He's an amazing man, you are so blessed. Hugs to you and your family!
