For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout,
with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God:
and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air:
and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:16,17 / KJV

Halloween Costumes in under 10 minutes!

We do not really go out for Halloween, so I do not have much of a need for costumes. The kids have so many food allergies, we just like to do things at home and attend the 'Halloween' themed stuff at the park (no candy involved.. usually dance studios and such).

Hannah had dress up week at her dance studio so we got creative!

Costume #1: Hannah the Pretty Zombie? (the girls told her she as a zombie :D)

instructions on how to make:
Old tee (the thinner and more worn the easier to rip)
Tulle
needle and thread (only if you need it)

The neck of the tee (dad's) fit perfectly around her waist, so we did not have to alter that. You CAN cut and add extra strips to it by sewing and then tie it around the waist.

I first cut around the base of the tee in 1 to 2 inch wide slits approx 1 inch up the tee.
I then ripped the tee from the base all the way to the neck removing the sleeves along the way.
It was too long for Hannah to dance in, so we did cut the hanging pieces in different lengths and then sew more to the belt.
After the skirt was as stringy as she wanted it :D we cut strips of 3 inch wide tulle in the length we needed and tied it to the waist band.
Extra tee material and tulle tied together created a hairbow
Extra tee material and tulle sewed together created the top.

She is wearing her leotard and black ripped tights under her zombie suit. A tee and leggings would work great too.
Her face is created with a white eye liner, silver bare essentials eye shadow and for added drama I drew on long black eye lashes

Costume #2: fairy butterfly.

I took a wide strip of black ribbon, lots of 3inch by 6 inch strips of tulle (purple and white sparkle) and tied them all across the ribbon tying it in the back. Again I drew the make up on her face with a black eye liner, white eye liner and painted on bare essentials eye make up and water for the soft butterfly colors.

Easy as can be!!!

Here is a pic of her and her brother. He has had this suit for a few years now (it still does not fit! lol) and is a pirate at least 2 times a month :D

Hope you all have a fun and safe weekend!

  4. OH Heather!I had to stop back in to say not only did your baby look amazing in her costume, she inspired mine to make a similiar costume!! She was so entranced by the cute zombie that she wanted to toss her butterfly fairy costume and spent 2 hours with her sisters in their rooms making one like yours, loL! I was SHOCKED, but amazed at their interest and creativity all by themselves and it looked amaing thanks to you! Please let your beautiful baby girl know she inspired a trio of teenagers in Miami to dress up a sister :) Hope to have photos soon, lol. I told her for our church Harvest festival it was a no-no and I will not let her dress there, but for a photo shoot and T or Ting in our neighborhood she could change :)

Thank you so much, my friend!
